September 13, 2019: HCV expert Prof. Ralf Bartenschlager honored with Heinrich Pette Lecture

Friday, 13. September 2019

On September 12, 2019, Prof. Ralf Bartenschlager, laureate of this year's Heinrich Pette Lecture, held his honorary lecture at the HPI entitled "Hepatitis C virus and its relatives: Quite similar, but so different".

He presented the latest findings on the differences in the replication strategies of flaviviruses (such as the dengue virus) and hepaciviruses (such as the hepatitis C virus) and their significance for virus proliferation and immune defense.

Acknowledging his achievements in the field of HCV research, Prof. Thomas Dobner, Scientific Director of the HPI, presented him with a "Meisterstück" fountain pen from the Hamburg brand Montblanc.

Already for the fourth time, the Heinrich Pette Lecture was accompanied by a graphic recorder, who captured the content of the lecture in the form of pictures in a way generally understandable. The result impressed the visitors of the lecture as well as the guest of honor Ralf Bartenschlager.
