The Leibniz Institute of Virology (LIV) conducts cutting-edge research on human-pathogenic viruses. Our research focuses on viruses that are currently of great medical relevance as well as on newly emerging viruses that may pose future challenges to human health. The aim of our research is to understand virus-related diseases and to develop new approaches to treatment and prevention. In doing so, the LIV is at the forefront of modern biomedical basic research.

Our offer is aimed primarily at young research enthusiasts:
Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of science and experience first-hand how work is done at the Leibniz Institute of Virology. Together we will make and paint colorful viruses, slip into the protective lab clothing of the professionals and test our memory in the virus memory game with images from the electron microscope.
