Leibniz Lab Pandemic Preparedness

United for a resilient future in times of pandemics

A total of 41 Leibniz Institutes have joined forces under the Leibniz Lab Pandemic Preparedness: One Health, One Future initiative to network and consolidate their interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary expertise. The goal of this initiative is to improve preparedness for future pandemics.

To achieve this, the Leibniz Lab focuses on four key areas: the environmental-animal-human interface and its impact on the emergence and spread of pathogens, reducing the physical and psychological burden of disease, increasing the efficiency of pandemic management, and creating a pandemic-resilient education system.

The work of the Leibniz Lab establishes a dynamic think tank that will complement clinical and infection prevention initiatives at both national and international levels. At the same time, it aims to support stakeholders from politics and society in formulating evidence-based action plans. Through this, the Leibniz Lab’s work will contribute significantly to reducing the vulnerability of populations in future pandemics, increasing their resilience, and protecting the next generation.

The coordination office of the think tank is based at the Leibniz Institute of Virology, with Prof. Dr. Gülsah Gabriel serving as the spokesperson.
