Research at the TiHo stands for research on and for animals – and in a translational manner for human research. Main research interests of the TiHo are:
- Infection medicine with neuroinfectiology
- Animal health and food quality
In 2018 Prof. Gülsah Gabriel has received a W3 professorship Viral Zoonoses – One Health by the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover.
The focus of Prof. Gabriel’s research in Hamburg and Hannover are zoonotic virus infections with an emphasis onto influenza A viruses: At the LIV her group investigates the interspecies transmission and at the TiHo the host reservoir of zoonotic pathogens.
