Complex lung organoid systems to model immune-driven injury responses

Dr. Ana Ivonne Vazquez-Armendariz, University of Bonn

Ferdinand-Bergen-Auditorium, LIV

Dr. Vazquez-Armendariz’s lab focuses on the use of three-dimensional lung organoid systems derived from murine and human adult somatic stem cells, as well as human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), to model lung development and disease. Her research aims to dissect the cellular and molecular crosstalk between lung epithelial and immune cells during lung development, infection, injury, and repair. In particular, her work seeks to identify key micro-environmental factors that shape macrophage phenotypes during alveolar niche development and macrophage replenishment following lung injury.
