Prof. Max von Kleist is an internationally recognized specialist in computational life sciences whose research bridges clinical data and mathematical modeling to address pressing challenges in infectious disease prevention. His work spans the optimization of HIV-1 pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) strategies and data-driven surveillance of SARS-CoV-2. The resulting HIV models have informed WHO recommendations as well as multiple national PrEP and PEP guidelines, while his SARS-CoV-2 models were used to guide national policies on quarantine and testing strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Collectively, his research has played a significant role in supporting evidence-based public health decision-making.
