Dr. Dimitra Peppa: Rethinking immune control in HIV/HBV coinfection: from stem-like T cells to unconventional immunity

Ferdinand-Bergen-Auditorium

Dr. Dimitra Peppa's (University College London) research focuses on immune responses in chronic viral infections, particularly the role of NK cells and CD8+ T cells in HIV and HIV/HBV coinfection. Her work has uncovered mechanisms by which NK cells regulate antiviral T cells and has linked NK cell function to the development of broadly neutralizing antibodies, while also contributing to HIV cure research. More broadly, her research explores how coinfection reshapes the immune landscape, and her group has active programmes developing NK cell-based immunotherapies for solid cancers and CMV-driven inflammation in people living with HIV.
