Prof. Juana Díez: The host tRNA epitranscriptome: a new player in viral infection

Prof. Dr. Juana Díez is Professor at the Pompeu Fabra University, Barcelona. Her group studies how viruses take over the cell host translation machinery and use this knowledge for the development of novel antiviral strategies. Recently, her laboratory uncovered a virus-induced alteration of the host cell epitranscriptome that favors viral RNA translation. One of her current interests is to decipher this viral strategy and its exploitation across viral groups and hosts. To achieve this, her group combines cutting edge -omic analyses with cellular and molecular approaches in both cell culture and in vivo studies.
