Visit of the Juforum Virology Seminar at the LIV
Students of biology and medicine, as well as high school students, will have the opportunity to delve into current research in virology during the JuForum Virology Seminar 2024 in Hamburg from March 6th to 10th, 2024.
The inaugural event of the seminar series will take place on March 6th at the Planetarium Hamburg. Hamburg's First Mayor, Dr. Peter Tschentscher, will open the event with a welcoming address, and the renowned virologist Gülşah Gabriel from the LIV will present a keynote lecture on "Viral Zoonoses – One Health", showcasing flagship projects in modern virology.
On March 8th, 2024, the group will visit the LIV. There, they can expect an extensive program, including informative presentations about the institute and insights into various research focuses such as the "Emerging Viruses" research group and the "Virus-Host Interactions" department. A special opportunity for interaction will be provided during the subsequent poster session with LIV junior scientists, along with a presentation of the Microscopy and Image Analysis Technology Platform.
In addition to the LIV, other institutes participating in this seminar include the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Virology, and Hygiene at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), the Institute of Hygiene and Environment of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, as well as the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM).
