Girls' Day & Boys' Day

Every year, the Leibniz Institute of Virology (LIV) offers children aged 12 and over the opportunity to gain an insight into the various professions at an institute for virus research. We were there again on April 25, 2024 with the aim of breaking down gender-specific job profiles.

This year, 12 girls had the chance to learn about everyday working life from our experts from the Technology Platform Microscopy and Image Analysis, Technical services and researchers from the department Virus-Host Interaction. Our lab assistants introduced the 12 boys to the Scientific-supporting Unit Laboratory and sterile equipment, they extracted DNA with the research group Emerging Viruses and were given a playful insight into how to become a scientist and and what topics our scientists are working on.
