Insights into different scientific career ways

What career opportunities are there after graduation or after a period as a postdoctoral fellow? At the third HPI Career Day on September 5, 2019, young researchers were able to get an idea of what career paths are possible after their time at the HPI.

In four sessions, not only the career opportunities outside the academic career were examined, but also the career opportunities in the academic field. The speakers reported on their professional careers: Representatives of various employers such as the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf, GlaxoSmithKline, Spektrum der Wissenschaft or the Paul Ehrlich Institute provided a varied program.

HPI alumni such as Dr. César Muñoz-Fontela (Bernhard-Nocht-Institut für Tropenmedizin), Dr. Nora Freudenberger (BioAgilytix), Dr. Daniel Pohlmann (Indivumed) and Dr. Sebastian Lunemann (Cytek Bioscinces) were also part of the program.

During the lunch break a " Round Table " was held to discuss the transition from science to industry.

The HPI Career is held every two years and is organized by the HPI PhD and postdoctoral students.

The event was supported by the "Stiftung zur Bekämpfung neuroviraler Erkrankungen" as well as by the companies "Janvier Labs", "Mettler Toledo", "Sarstedt", "Eppendorf" and "BioLegend".
