Study tour by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation: International researchers visit the LIV

On August 22, 2024, the Leibniz Institute of Virology was one of the stops on the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation's study tour with 32 international fellows from various countries, including America, China and Africa. The 12-day study tour took the participants through various cities in Germany, away from their respective host cities, to give them a comprehensive insight into the cultural, economic, political and social conditions of the country.

The diverse program of the study tour includes visits to cultural institutions, industrial companies and research facilities as well as cultural events. The aim of the trip is to increase the participants' knowledge of Germany in addition to the experiences they have in their German host cities.

After arriving at the LIV, the guests were given a brief introduction to the institute and the scientific work of the Viral Zoonoses - One Health research department by Dr. Stephanie Stanelle-Bertram. This was followed by a tour of the institute with stops in the Virus-Host-Interaction research department and the Microscopy and Image Analysis technology platform. After a two-hour stay at the LIV with intensive discussions and many new impressions, the scholarship holders continued their journey.
