Research Teams

The LIV’s research units currently consist of six research departments, one research unit and three independent junior research groups. The departments and research units are permanent organizational structures, whereas the junior research groups have been appointed on non-tenure track fixed terms since 2010 to ensure the most flexibility as possible in this area. Since 2020 the LIV has also two associated groups.

The combination of permanent and fixed term research teams clearly adds value to the organizational structure. A wide subject and technology core alongside opportunities for short term investigations on current German health research questions allows the LIV to maintain a high degree of flexibility without neglecting the continuity of its research profile.
