Partners of the LIV Graduate School
MINGZ – Graduate Center of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences (MIN), University of Hamburg
The LIV Graduate School is a member of MINGZ, the central graduate center of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences (MIN) at the University of Hamburg. MINGZ provides comprehensive support to all doctoral candidates in the MIN Faculty—including LIV PhD candidates—with services covering the entire doctoral journey: academic and career advising, training in soft skills, networking opportunities, and career development. As part of the MIN Faculty, all PhD candidates are officially enrolled at the University of Hamburg and receive their doctoral degree from the university.
CDSL – Center for Doctoral Studies Lübeck, University of Lübeck
LIV PhD candidates may complete their doctoral degree at the University of Lübeck via the Center for Doctoral Studies (CDSL). They can also participate in CDSL’s wide range of courses, workshops, and disciplinary events.
UKE non-medical PhD Programme
Through close collaboration with the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE), the LIV Graduate School offers its doctoral candidates the opportunity to join the UKE PhD Programme for Non-Medical professionals. This enables them to obtain their doctorate at the UKE and access the institution’s extensive training programs, workshops, and networking events.
HRA – Hamburg Research Academy
The LIV is an associated partner of the Hamburg Research Academy (HRA), a cross-institutional platform for PhD candidates, postdocs, and junior professors across Hamburg. The HRA provides targeted support, professional development, and networking opportunities for early-career researchers from all disciplines. All LIV early-career researchers have full access to these resources.
LCI – Leibniz Center Infection
The LIV collaborates closely with the neighboring Leibniz Institutes Bernhard-Nocht-Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM) and Research Center Borstel (FZB). Together, the three institutions founded the Leibniz Center Infection (LCI), a strategic alliance of these research institutes with complementary scientific profiles.
Therefore, in addition to its own structured doctoral training through the LIV Graduate School, the LIV is also an official training partner of the LCI Graduate School Infection, a cross-institutional, structured PhD program. The three institute partners organize joint events each year that are an integral part of the structured graduate programs of the three institutes and support the academic and professional development of doctoral candidates.
