Cell Biology of RNA viruses

The junior research group Cell Biology of RNA Viruses investigated the interactions between RNA viruses and their host cells. As part of the Leibniz ScienceCampus InterACt, the group was particularly interested in the function of the cell compartments that are induced or used by viruses to fulfill their replication cycle.

The main objectives were to characterize cellular pathways and compartments used by RNA viruses and to investigate their potential as therapeutic targets. In addition, the complex biology of the cell in health and disease was to be broken down using viruses as "tools". Another focus of the work was on the compartmentalization of the innate immune response to viral infections.

Dr. Gabrielle Vieyres left the LIV at the end of 2023. Doctoral theses that have been started will continue to be completed at the LIV.
