Dynamics of Viral Structures

The associated research group Dynamics of Viral Structures led by Dr. Charlotte Uetrecht investigates the life cycle of human viruses, in particular corona and noroviruses. To this end, they use and develop new mass spectrometers that allow higher structural resolution and single-molecule-like measurements.

The aim is to map the complex formation and structural changes of intracellular viral proteins and the capsid envelope in a time-resolved manner. This allows dynamic processes, stoichiometry and topology to be investigated and insights into the functioning of viruses to be gained.
